Monica For Oregon / Via monicafororegon.com Oregon Republican Senate candidate Monica Wehby's website features a fake quote from third president and founding father Thomas Jefferson. "When the government fears the people there is liberty, when the people fear their government there is tyranny," the quote from Jefferson on Wehby's "Constitution/2nd Amendment" issues page. The Thomas Jefferson Foundation (which makes a habit of debunking fake Founding Fathers quotes) says they "have not found any evidence that Thomas Jefferson said or wrote" this phrase. On Tuesday, BuzzFeed News reported Wehby plagiarized her health care plan from a Karl Rove group's survey.
